The app

A cellar notebook that does the maths

Just Good Wine keeps the record of every batch and tells you what to do next. It works on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, and syncs through your own iCloud.

Track every batch

Log gravity, temperature, pH, additions, rackings, tastings and bottling. A chart shows how the fermentation is going at a glance.

Never miss a step

Reminders for gravity checks, racking, SO₂ and bottling. Mark one done from the alert, or ask Siri what's due on your iPhone, Apple Watch or HomePod.

Calculators that explain

ABV from hydrometer or refractometer readings, SO₂ by pH, yeast nutrient plans and step feeding, each with the reasoning in plain English.

Recipes and yeasts

A library of beginner-friendly recipes that scale to your batch size, and yeast strain profiles to help you choose the right one.

On your wrist

Check a batch and log a gravity or temperature reading from Apple Watch while your hands are busy in the cellar.

Yours, and private

Your records live on your devices and in your own iCloud. Export any batch as a PDF, CSV or text report whenever you like.

From juice to glass

The five stages of every batch

The details change with the fruit, but the shape of the journey is always the same.

  1. Prepare

Sanitise everything, prepare the must and take a starting gravity.

  2. Ferment

Pitch the yeast and let it turn sugar into alcohol over one to two weeks.

  3. Rack

Move the wine off its sediment into a clean vessel under an airlock.

  4. Clear and age

Stabilise, let it fall bright, and give it time to round out.

  5. Bottle

Bottle when it is stable and clear, then label it and wait a little longer.
